SAN ANTONIO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Texas Armoring Corporation (TAC), producer of the world’s finest lightweight armored passenger vehicles, announced today a new line of special explosion-resistant SUVs in response to the recent string of bombings and terrorist attacks across West Africa and the Middle East. TAC officials reported that the new line of armored, blast-mitigating vehicles will be based on the Toyota Land Cruiser platform and will offer clients in areas like Nigeria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Yemen an unprecedented amount of protection against undercarriage blasts, roadside explosions, IEDs, anti-personnel mines, and car bombs.
According to TAC, the vehicles and corresponding protection levels will be available as follows:
TAC LC50 – MSRP: $195,000.00 USD
The LC50 will feature TAC’s ground-breaking T6 ultra-lightweight armoring package along with a specially angled ballistic-steel undershield and spall liner to protect occupants against high-power rifle fire (7.62×39, .223. 7.62 NATO munitions), fragmentation mines, and small explosions. While all TAC armored vehicles offer protection against small explosives via the floorboards of the cabin area, the LC50 will provide an additional layer of protection on the outside of the vehicle to help dissipate the blast and more fully protect the occupants.
TAC LC100 – MSRP: $275,000.00 USD
The LC100 will feature TAC’s T7 ultra-lightweight armoring package along with a premium composite undershield co-developed with Bravo Zulu Services, Inc. While the LC50 will only be rated for the explosive equivalent of 3-4 hand grenades, the LC100 will boast stopping power of over 20 grenades (approx. 4 lbs. of high-explosive C4) and is designed to absorb the shockwave of the explosion so that it can’t pass through into the passenger compartment.
Bravo Zulu’s Jason Miller said of the LC100, “We’ve done something incredible here—Texas Armoring’s new offering will provide clients with military-grade blast protection and the comfort of a regular SUV.”
TAC President and CEO Trent Kimball added, “Nothing like this has ever been introduced in the market, and Bravo Zulu has done the research to ensure that our clients will be safer than we ever previously thought possible. The LC100 will stop armor-piercing rounds and multiple pounds of C4—it is serious, blast-eating protection and it is exactly what our clients need to stay safe from terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda and Boko Haram.”
TAC LC250 – MSRP: $595,000.00 USD*
The LC250 will feature TAC’s T8 heavy-duty protection package which defeats .50 caliber BMG rounds, a cutting-edge, specialized solution from Bravo Zulu for the undercarriage that will defeat 6-7 lbs. of C4 (approx. equivalent of 35 hand grenades), and a military-grade, advanced barrage-jammer which will protect occupants and any vehicles in the surrounding convoy from the most common bomb detonation threats.
TAC EVP Jason Forston stated, “The LC250 will be one of the world’s most expensive armored SUVs—however, it will also be one of the safest. Imagine having the ballistic protection of a military-grade off-road SUV, the blast protection of an armored fighting vehicle, and the barrage-jamming capability of a presidential convoy all rolled up into one inconspicuous looking SUV. In short, the LC250 would aide anyone looking to survive an unimaginable terrorist attack or doomsday scenario.”
*All sales subject to U.S. Government Approval. The LC250 is an ITAR restricted item and will require special U.S. State Dept. licensing

I see that it is noted that the TAC LC 250 requires government approval, does that include for US civilian non contractor use? If someone wished to have such a vehicle as a civilian disaster response vehicle, perhaps even for hurricane or tornado environments, chase, track, warn, would they still have to be government certified?
Has anyone evaluated a command post vehicle that would be positioned in the damage zone prior to Hurricanes and Tornadoes for tactical response to natural disasters? Vehicle outfitted with sat uplink, microwave capabilities, and an internal media operations command center?
Please let me know your thoughts.
We’ve worked with storm chasers before. Vehicles staying in the US don’t require government approval.
